OptiMantra vs Practice Better vs Healthie

By the Telesystemaic team ·

For a hormone or functional practice that orders labs often and prescribes, OptiMantra is usually the closest fit, with direct Labcorp and Quest ordering and EPCS on one plan. Practice Better is stronger for programs, courses and Zapier. Healthie is strongest at bundling visits and labs into packages. All three provide a BAA, as of October 2026.

We are not affiliated with OptiMantra, Practice Better or Healthie, we take no referral fees, and we don't sell software. Every claim below links to the vendor's own pages, checked on October 14, 2026. For five more EHRs in the same format, see our EHR comparison reference page.

Who is each one built for?

OptiMantra is built for cash-based clinical practices: integrative, hormone, IV and functional medicine. Practice Better is built for health and wellness practitioners who sell programs. Healthie is built for practices that sell packaged care, from a solo clinician to a telehealth company.

OptiMantra merged with Cerbo in December 2025. The combined company says it serves functional, integrative, DPC, concierge, IV and HRT practices. Both products are still sold under their own names. Practice Better's pages focus on health and wellness practices. Healthie's pricing page splits its market into private practices, group practices, digital health companies and enterprise.

Which is better for labs?

OptiMantra is better if you order from Labcorp or Quest yourself. Its integrations page lists Labcorp, Quest, Access Medical Lab, Boston Heart, Evexia, Rupa Health and more. Orders and results stay in the chart.

Practice Better works through lab platforms instead. Its pricing page lists Rupa Health, Fullscript and Evexia Diagnostics from the Starter plan. This suits functional practices that already order specialty tests through Rupa or Fullscript.

Healthie has two routes, per its E-Labs help article. You can add Quest, Labcorp or BioReference orders to a client package on its upper plans. Linking your own lab account is Enterprise only. Fullscript is included on every plan.

Rupa Health is now part of Fullscript, which acquired it in October 2024. Fullscript says current Rupa workflows are unchanged for now.

Which handles packages, programs and memberships best?

All three bill on a schedule, so the choice depends on what you sell. Practice Better is best for structured programs with content. Healthie is best for bundles that mix visits and labs. OptiMantra is best for simple memberships alongside clinical care.

  • OptiMantra: its FAQ says you can set up recurring memberships, prepaid packages and special pricing.
  • Practice Better: its payments page lists packages, programs, courses, memberships and installment plans. Recurring payments and deposits start on the Professional plan.
  • Healthie: a client package can include sessions, programs, products and labs, with one-time or recurring billing. Booked visits can renew with each cycle.

For a 6-month weight-loss program with monthly check-ins, Healthie or Practice Better is easier to set up. For a hormone membership that renews monthly and includes labs twice a year, any of the three works.

Which has better automations?

Healthie and Practice Better do more inside the EHR. OptiMantra sends data out to other tools. Neither approach follows up with patients who haven't booked yet.

  • Healthie: Intake Flows send forms when a client is added to a group. Forms can also be tied to an appointment type.
  • Practice Better: its automations page lists forms sent before or after sessions and tasks triggered by purchases. Zapier is available from Professional.
  • OptiMantra: automated text and email reminders are on the base plan. Outbound webhooks can send data to a CRM for follow-up.

How do payments work?

All three take card payments inside the EHR. Healthie and Practice Better run on Stripe. OptiMantra lets you choose a processor.

Healthie's pricing page lists Stripe processing on every plan. Practice Better Payments is powered by Stripe. OptiMantra's integrations include Stripe, Fiserv, Authorize.net and Stax.

If you send lab-fee links before the first visit, check that the payment can be tied to the patient record. Our guide to collecting lab fees before the consult covers the timing.

What about telehealth and e-prescribing?

All three include one-to-one video. All three charge for e-prescribing as an add-on.

OptiMantra sells an eRx license with EPCS as an add-on, per its pricing page. Practice Better sells ePrescribe (EPCS) through DrFirst as an add-on from Starter. Healthie uses a DoseSpot add-on per clinician, with EPCS as a further add-on. If you prescribe controlled substances, confirm EPCS and PDMP access before you sign up.

Do all three sign a BAA?

Yes, but the way you get it differs. Check this before you add any patient data.

  • OptiMantra: a BAA is part of the license. You sign the user agreement and BAA when your trial converts to a paid account.
  • Practice Better: a BAA is included on all paid plans. The free Sprout plan is outside that statement.
  • Healthie: its BAA takes effect when your account is created.

The BAA covers only that vendor. Your form builder, texting app and email tool each need their own. See our list of tools that sign a BAA.

How hard is it to switch?

Moving charts is the main cost, and all three offer help. OptiMantra's FAQ says it migrates records, appointments, notes and documents free of charge. Practice Better includes free migration on its Team plan and migration support on others, per its pricing page. Healthie lists data transfer support from Essentials up.

The hidden cost is rebuilding forms, packages and reminders. Budget a week or two of evenings, and run old and new systems side by side for one billing cycle. OptiMantra asks for 30 days' notice to cancel. Practice Better says there are no contracts.

Our take, by practice type

  • Hormone practice (HRT, menopause, TRT) that orders labs and prescribes: OptiMantra. Direct lab ordering, EPCS and memberships sit on one plan.
  • Weight-loss program with monthly check-ins and content: Practice Better, for programs and Zapier. Healthie if you want visits and labs in one bundled price.
  • Functional practice using Rupa or Fullscript: Practice Better or Healthie. Choose OptiMantra if you also order direct from Labcorp or Quest.
  • Telehealth practice planning to add providers: Healthie, for packages, groups and an API.

Whichever you pick, the steps before the first booking stay outside the EHR: the reply to a new inquiry, the unpaid lab fee, the half-done intake form. To see where your own patients drop off, request a free patient journey map.

This is general information, not legal advice. Confirm BAA terms with each vendor.

Common questions

Is OptiMantra HIPAA compliant?

OptiMantra says it provides a Business Associates Agreement as part of its license and keeps administrative safeguards for access to patient data. No vendor can make a practice compliant on its own. You still need a BAA with every other tool that touches patient data.

Did OptiMantra merge with Cerbo?

Yes. Cerbo and OptiMantra announced a merger on December 3, 2025, under a new CEO. Both products are still sold, and Cerbo's published BAA now names CerboOM, LLC as the business associate.

Which is better for labs?

OptiMantra, if you order directly from Labcorp, Quest or Access. Practice Better and Healthie work well if you order through Rupa Health or Fullscript. Healthie can also sell Quest, Labcorp and BioReference orders inside client packages on its upper plans.

Can you run memberships in Practice Better?

Yes. Practice Better's payments page lists memberships and installment plans with automatic recurring payments. Recurring payments start on the Professional plan, as of October 2026.

Is Healthie better than Practice Better?

Neither is better overall. Healthie is stronger at bundling visits and labs into packages and offers an API. Practice Better is stronger at programs and courses, and connects to Zapier. Try both with your own intake form and one real program.
